Responsive Booking Engine
New

  • New calendar design After the full design update of the Responsive Booking Engine, the next step was to improve the User Experience of the date picker.

    Decisions on improvements have been made by looking at user behaviour (observing how individual users click through their booking), through heat maps (looking at which areas all users click) and through UX research. This resulted in the below changes. See a live example

    - The month selection was not clear. Guests are used to click a right-arrow to browse to future months
    - Larger dates make the date picker more accessible. More backend accessibility will be added soon
    - When guests hover with their mouse over the departure date, the total amount of nights is now shown
    - Some users entered a new date, but did not understand that the 'search' button needed to be clicked. Therefore, when users now enter the departure date, the page will immediately show search results
    - The most important change has been made to the date picker on smartphone devices. The calendar is now full screen, putting the focus on the date selection

  • Mastercard Credit card numbers of Mastercard usually start with a 5. As card numbers are limited, Mastercard will be rolling out card numbers starting with a 2. All our products now support these Mastercard 2-Series Bank Identification Number (BIN). Find more info about this number on the Mastercard website or in this Mastercard YouTube video


  • Password reset For security reasons, user accounts are blocked after 5 login attempts with an incorrect password. Hotel users had to send a request to Support to unlock their account.
    Now, a more user friendly process has been developed. An email will be sent to the user's email address automatically when 5 login attempts failed. Users can reactivate their account via this email themselves, without assistance of Support
  • SEO headings Title headings (H1, H2, H3, H4) are important in search results. Therefore, on every hotel webpage, every title on top of the page is now automatically loaded with an H1-tag and all other titles with an H2-tag - preventing multiple H1-tags on one page
  • Booking Engine Reminder The conversion stimulating Booking Engine Reminder has been available for the "Piccolo" template and is now also available for all other templates
  • Minimum stay When a room or package is set to a minimum stay of 2 nights or more, the booking engine shows the room type as "not available for the selected period" if guests are searching for 1 night. This is correct, as the guest is looking for 1 night and not 2 nights. To show guests that the room is available for 2 nights though, a label has been added indicating that the room is available for 2 nights

Fixed

  • Chain Engine Several fixes have been placed in the Responsive Booking Engine for chain hotels. The order of rooms is now correct, a minimum stay is now indicated more clear, if users search for a date in the past they are redirected to today's date, the closed-to-departure function is more clear and a fully booked hotel is indicated better on the hotel overview page


  • Filters The filters to select the amount of persons and room/package type were not readable with some colour settings
  • Accounts The option for guests to cancel their own booking, was temporarily not available

 

Mobile Website
New

  • New design The Mobile Website, used by hotels who don't have a Responsive Hotel Website, has a complete new look and feel, making it easier for guests to directly contact the hotel with the call button, start a route planner or book the hotel within the reach of their thumb

 

Online Payment
New

  • Payment link Some hotels had guests who used payment links from over a year old to pay the hotel. With this feedback, a new feature has been added to the payment link. The payment link will now expire after 30 days and will show guests "Your payment link has expired, please contact the hotel at {emailaddress} or {telephonenumber} to request a new payment link."
  • Mastercard New credit cards numbers can now start with a "2". See the above Booking Engine section for more info

 

Responsive Hotel Website
Fixed

  • CMS Login When users would enter their password more than 5 times incorrectly, their account could not be unblocked anymore. This has been fixed
  • Newsletters Importing subscriber lists in the Content Management System (CMS) did not work for some hotels
  • Promo blocks The colour of promo blocks for all hotels was blue, instead of the hotel's brand colour
