1. What is TripAdvisor Instant Booking?
For the first time, millions of travelers can now book directly on TripAdvisor without leaving the site. TripAdvisor Instant Booking is an easy way for accommodations to acquire this business on a pay-per-booking commission model.
2. How does TripAdvisor Instant Booking work?
TripAdvisor collaborates with hoteliers.com to display your rates and availability – alongside a “Book on TripAdvisor” button – on your property page. Travelers click the button to seamlessly convert from researching to booking and complete their transaction all without leaving TripAdvisor. The booking process is fully optimized for desktop, tablet and mobile platforms with 25 languages and many global currencies. You own the relationship with the customer from the beginning – the booking details are passed to you directly through hoteliers.com. Plus, you only pay for the bookings after travelers complete their stay and you can easily track your return on investment.
3. What is a traveler view?
A traveler view is each appearance of “Book on TripAdvisor” on your property page. “Book on TripAdvisor” appears in the Hotel Price Comparison search box of your listing. Traveler views, as well as any resulting bookings those views create, can go to you or another one of your distribution partners (OTAs).
4. What are the costs of TripAdvisor Instant Booking?
A traveler view occurs each time “Book on TripAdvisor” appears for your property in search results. Sometimes the traveler will be viewing your rates; other times they will be seeing your distribution partners’ rates. You can choose the share of traveler views you’ll receive when setting up TripAdvisor Instant Booking. Choosing a 15% commission rate allows you to claim half of all traveler views (50%), as well as any resulting bookings those views create. Or you can choose a lower 12% commission rate, but will only get a quarter of all traveler views (25%) and any resulting bookings. Keep in mind, to give travelers the best possible booking experience, your rates must be the same or better than those of your other distribution partners. If your direct pricing isn’t competitive, your rates and availability may not appear.
To setup the channel between the booking engine and TripAdvisor Instant Booking hoteliers.com ask a setup fee and a monthly fee for support and continuous developments in the connection. Submit a request for more information about the costs
5. What is a Connectivity Partner?
A connectivity partner is a company that provides the software to support and manage your bookings: your CRS (Central Reservation System), IBE (Internet Booking Engine) or channel manager, for example. These partners work with TripAdvisor to bring your rates and availability to your property page, process traveler bookings and pass them to you.
6. What’s a Distribution Partner or Distribution Channel?
These are partners who help sell rooms at your property for a fee. They can include Online Travel Agencies (OTAs), Global Distribution Systems (GDSs) and other intermediaries. Your relationships with these partners are established and maintained independent from TripAdvisor.
7. What does it mean when you say "I own the relationship with the customers"?
Once the guest completes a booking on TripAdvisor, the booking details are transferred to you via your connectivity partner. From that point forward, you’re free to contact the guest and start building a relationship. This also allows you to provide customer service for each reservation.
8. What happens if the guest needs to cancel?
If a guest cancels a reservation, your connectivity partner may automatically notify TripAdvisor. If not, you can notify us through your TripAdvisor Instant Booking dashboard. Some connectivity partners also enable guests to cancel directly on TripAdvisor. If that happens, we will notify you via your connectivity partner. In any case, you will not be charged for bookings that have been flagged as cancelled.
9. What’s the difference between TripAdvisor Instant Booking and TripConnect cost-per-click campaigns?
TripAdvisor now offers you two different ways to get bookings in TripAdvisor Hotel Price Comparison search: TripAdvisor Instant Booking, a pay-per-booking, commission-based solution; and TripConnect cost-per-click campaigns. Both features allow your property’s rates and availability to show in the Hotel Price Comparison area of your TripAdvisor page.
TripAdvisor Instant Booking
When travelers click “Book on TripAdvisor," they’re moved into the TripAdvisor instant booking flow. That process is optimized to help guests from around the globe quickly book your property on any device. You’ll only pay for these bookings when travelers complete their stays.
TripConnect CPC campaigns
When travelers click the “Official site” link available through TripConnect cost-per-click campaigns, they are sent to your own booking engine. You’ll pay for each of these clicks, regardless of whether a traveler makes a booking or not.
